Pagasa: Typhoon ‘Kristine’ to exit PH on Saturday night
MANILA, Philippines — The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services (Pagasa) on Friday said typhoon “Kristine” could exit the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR) as early as Saturday night, or Sunday morning. In its 5 p.m. weather update, the state weather bureau said that as of 3 p.m. Friday, the eye of typhoon Kristine was estimated at 1,285 kilometers east northeast of extreme Northern Luzon. Kristine has maximum sustained winds of 185 kilometers per hour (kph) near the center and gustiness of up to 230 kph, and is moving west northwestward at 15 kph. Weather specialist Ana Clauren said Kristine had no direct effect on the Philippines. Kristine (international name: Haishen) entered PAR on Friday morning. —Patricia Denise M. Chiu
