MANILA, Philippines — Newly-designated Philippine National Police (PNP) chief Gen. Camilo Cascolan on Friday said there will be no major reorganization to be implemented in the nation’s police force in the near future.

“Unang una, of course unahin natin yung organization. Dapat ma-redirect at ma-refocus tayo sa ating gawaing kapulisan. Kailangan po natin na ilagay yung tamang tao sa mga tamang position,” Cascolan said in a Laging Handa televised briefing when asked about his reforms as PNP chief.

(We will prioritize the organization. We should redirect and refocus our duties as policemen. We need to place police officials in the right positions.)

“Nandoon naman po tayo so I am not expecting, you are not expecting any kind of major revamp considering the people who are in position right now are actually people who we can really trust,” he added.

Cascolan was appointed as PNP chief on Sept. 1. He formally assumed the post on Sept. 2 after his batchmate at Philippine Military Academy, former PNP chief Gen. Archie Gamboa retired.

Cascolan is expected to serve as PNP chief until he reaches the mandatory retirement age on November 10, 2020.
