PH’s total COVID-19 caseload now at 228,403 with 1,987 new infections
MANILA, Philippines — The Department of Health (DOH) has recorded an additional 1,987 COVID-19 infections, driving the Philippines’ total count to 228,403 as of September 3.
DOH likewise logged 880 new recoveries as well as 65 more deaths, bringing the country’s recovery tally to 159,475 and death toll to 3,688.
According to DOH, 65,240 of the nationwide total cases are considered “active” as of Thursday. It also said that of the 1,987 new infections, 818 were documented in Metro Manila while 153 were in Cavite, 125 in Laguna, 122 in Negros Occidental, and 78 in Rizal.
DOH said it again discovered and removed 24 duplicates from the total cases, including 12 patients previously reported as recoveries. Further, DOH said three cases that were reported as recoveries were later found to be fatalities.
