Hospital annex for Clark workers to get P100M from Bayanihan fund

CLARK FREEPORT –– The Bayanihan to Heal as One Act 2, which awaits President Duterte’s signature, has an allocation of P100 million for an extension building of the Diosdado P. Macapagal Memorial Provincial Hospital here.

Vivencio Dizon, president and chief executive officer of the Bases Conversion and Development Authority and COVID-19 testing czar, announced this shortly before the signing of a deed of usufruct between Pampanga Gov. Dennis Pineda and Clark Development Corp.(CDC) President Noel Manankil.

The CDC board allowed the provincial government to use 5,000 square meters of land as the site of the hospital extension.

The main facility is located in Guagua town, some 40 kilometers southwest of Clark.

The annex would be the first public hospital in Clark, said Vice Gov. Lilia Pineda, who is credited to have started the project that is meant to provide health care for workers who counted 140,000 before the COVID-19 pandemic was declared in March.

Most of the workers come from Pampanga, she said.

The Bayanihan fund, capitol’s P100 million and Mabalacat City’s yearly contribution of P30 million gave the project a head start- budget of P230 million, Gov. Pineda said.

“Having healthy workers is one of the keyS to our economy’s recovery From COVID-19,” he said.
