Palace: Cascolan is PNP OIC once Gamboa retires
MANILA, Philippines— The Philippine National Police’s (PNP) number 2 man, deputy chief for administration Police Lt. Gen. Camilo Cascolan, will become officer-in-charge of the police force once its chief Gen. Archie Gamboa retires on Wednesday, Malacañang said.
“Kagabi po, sinabi sa akin na dapat i-announce ko na pero binawi. Meron na po pangalan na initially ibigay, pero I was told i-hold muna ang announcement,” presidential spokesperson Harry Roque said Tuesday in an online briefing when asked who will be the next PNP chief.
(Last night, I was instructed to announce but they withdrew it. There’s already a name initially given, but I was told to hold the announcement.)
“But what we can announce is pag compulsory retirement po ni Gen. Gamboa, ang sure na magiging OIC ay si Gen. Cascolan,” he added.
(But what we can announce once Gen. Gamboa reaches his compulsory retirement, Gen. Cascolan will surely be the OIC.)
Gamboa reaches the mandatory retirement age of 56 on Wednesday, September 2.
