BAGUIO CITY –– Police here on Sunday arrested two mine workers suspected of killing their fellow worker during a heated argument.
The victim was identified as Eddie Lumbag, a native of Besao town in Mountain Province.
Initial investigation showed that suspects Jommel Saliong and Raymund Butoeg, both from this city, ganged up on Lumbag after a drinking session at Barangay Virac in Itogon, Benguet.
The three, apparently drunk, headed for this city but had a confrontation while stopping by Barangay Ucab, also in Itogon.
Police said Saliong grabbed Lumbag’s arms while Butoeg smashed the victim’s head with a rock.
Lumbag died on the spot while the suspects fled.
Police launched a pursuit operation against the suspects, who were immediately caught at the Riverside in Barangay Virac, Itogon.
