/ 02:23 PM January 23, 2012

MANILA, Philippines—In line with the observance of the Chinese New Year, the number coding scheme in Metro Manila has been lifted Monday, the Metropolitan Manila Development Authority said.

MMDA mentioned in its twitter account that the rule includes the cities of Makati and Las Piñas.

Malacanang has declared January 23 as a special non-working holiday.

The coding scheme bars vehicles from major thoroughfares in Metro Manila, depending on the last digit of their plate numbers.

On regular days, the scheme does not allow vehicles with plate numbers ending in 1 or 2 every Monday along major thoroughfares from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m.
