New COVID-19 cases in Cavite drop with enforcement of MECQ
MANILA, Philippines — The number of new coronavirus disease cases in Cavite being recorded daily has significantly dropped following the modified enhanced community quarantine (MECQ) earlier imposed in the province, Cavite Governor Jonvic Remulla said Friday.
In an interview with ABS-CBN News Channel, Remulla said that in July, new COVID-19 cases in Cavite were reported from 100 to 400 a day.
“We are at 4,044 positives since the start of ECQ. The good news is since the start of MECQ, we now feel the effects of it. There were days a month ago that our positive cases in one day reached 400 in one day, 400, 200, 100, or 300. The last two days have been very good. [Last] Wednesday, our cases were only 40,” he said.
On Thursday, there were only 10 additional cases in the province, according to the governor.
“It shows that the effect of the two-week break worked here in Cavite,” Remulla added.
Records from the regional office of the Department of Health in Calabarzon showed that of the 4,044 COVID-19 cases in the province, 3,122 are active, 844 are recoveries, and 78 are deaths.
