Barangay execs doing ‘hanky-panky’ in video call meeting in Dasma resign
MANILA, Philippines — The barangay chairman and treasurer in Dasmariñas, Cavite who were caught in a video call meeting having sex have resigned from their posts, according to the president of the Association of Barangay Captains (ABC) in the city.
Jorge Magno, president of ABC Dasmariñas, said the concerned barangay chairman has also apologized over the incident.
“Si barangay chairman, nagresign na po para sa ikatatahimik po ng lahat. Humihingi po siya ng pang-unawa at pasensya sa lahat na ganoon ang nangyari,” Magno told dzBB on Thursday.
(The barangay chairman has resigned for the peace of everyone. He is asking for understanding and forgiveness over what happened.)
Asked if the barangay treasurer has also resigned from her post, Magno said: “Sa pagkakaalam ko po nagresign na rin para sa ikatatahimik ng lahat.”

Undersecretary Jonathan Malaya said the Department of the Interior and Local Government will send an investigation team to probe the incident.
Malaya said the DILG finds the actions of the two barangay officials as “appalling” and “disturbing” as it goes against public morals and the Code of Conduct and Ethical Standards of Public Officials and Employees.
“If true, this is unbecoming of an elected government official. Tinitiyak po naming iimbestigahan ang insidenting ito at pananagutin ang barangay captain ng kung anong karampatang parusa ng batas sa inasal niya,” he said in a statement.
