Police chief reshuffles units before retirement

MANILA, Philippines — A week before he retires, Philippine National Police (PNP) chief Police General Archie Francisco Gamboa ordered a revamp in some units in Camp Crame and at the National Capital Region Police Office (NCRPO).

Gamboa named Brig. Gen. Florencio Ortilla as NCRPO’s Deputy Regional Director for Operations and Police Colonel Rommel Bernardo Cabagnot as acting Chief of Regional Staff of the NCRPO effective August 24.

In Camp Crame, Gamboa designated Brig. Gen. Oliver Enmodias as Deputy Director of the Directorate for Integrated Police Operations – Northern Luzon and Police Colonel Arthur Cabalona as acting Executive Officer.

The two officials will assume their new posts on August 27.

Gamboa has also promoted Maj. Gen. Ferdinand Divina as PNP Director for Intelligence and Maj. Gen. Marne Marcos Jr. as the new PNP Director for Comptrollership.

Other police officials who were given new assignments were Col. Rolly Octavio of Police Regional Office (PRO) 12 to NCRPO; Col. Eduardo Abaday of the Directorate for Intelligence to Police Community Affairs and Development Group (PCADG), Col. Ulysses Cruz of PCADG to Directorate for Integrated Police Operations (DIPO) Southern Luzon, Col. Francisco Dungo Jr. of PRO 1 to Logistics Support Service (LSS) and Col. Reynaldo Padulla of LSS to DIPO Visayas.

Gamboa is set to retire on September 2 when he reaches the retirement age of 56 years old.

Gamboa was among six senior police officials who are set to retire over the next few months.

Aside from Gamboa, the other retiring officials include Lt. Gen. Camilo Pancratius Cascolan, the current PNP deputy chief for administration, and Maj. Gen. Reynaldo Biay, director for personnel and records management.

The three others are Maj. Gen. Elmo Francis Sarona of the directorate of investigation and detective management, Maj. Gen. Amador Corpuz of the human resource directorate and Maj. Gen. Timoteo Pacleb of the research and development directorate.
