Eastern Visayas has 115 new COVID-19 cases; regional total now 2,363
TACLOBAN CITY –– Eastern Visayas has logged 115 new cases of the coronavirus disease (COVID-19) on Wednesday, bringing the total number of infections in the region to 2,363.
At least seven individuals also died of the disease recently, said Dr. Minerva Molon, director of the Department of Health in Eastern Visayas (DOH-8).
The fatalities, she said, have pre-existing medical problems like diabetes, kidney hypertension, and cancer.
The region now has 16 COVID-19 fatalities.
Of the six provinces in Eastern Visayas, Leyte has the highest number of COVID-19 cases at 1,152 followed by Samar, 843; Southern Leyte, 204; Biliran, 66; Northern Samar, 59; and Eastern Samar, 39.
Of the 2,363 people infected with COVID-19 in the region, 1,986 were asymptomatic.
