BACOLOD CITY –– The Negros Occidental provincial government has decided to adopt a four-day work week and a day of work from home starting Monday, August 24, to slow down the transmission of the new coronavirus disease (COVID-19).
Negros Occidental Gov. Eugenio Jose Lacson said Capitol-based offices would be closed on Fridays.
“The new work arrangement, adopted in the interest and exigency of the service and the protection of the employees of the provincial government, will be enforced until revoked or amended in writing,” he said.
Office hours are from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. from Mondays to Thursdays, while Friday is a work-from-home day.
“This is to give a breather to our health workers who need a time-out from the rigors of their job during the pandemic,” the governor said.
As of August 24, Negros Occidental has 966 cases of COVID-19.
Negros Occidental and Bacolod will implement a lockdown during the proposed “timeout weekend” from August 28 to 31 to conduct free PCR testing of 10,000 people.
