Tuguegarao returns to stricter community quarantine

TUGUEGARAO CITY –– A stricter community quarantine will be imposed on this city for ten days starting Wednesday, Aug. 26, to slow the spread of the coronavirus disease (COVID-19) here, officials said.

Mayor Jefferson Soriano said public transportation here would also be suspended as the city reverts to modified enhanced community quarantine.

“A little bit harsh, but we hope to arrest the spike of cases. We are crossing our fingers that we will not reach the critical zone—which is a harsher ECQ,” Soriano said.

The 10 villages of the city had recorded a surge in the number of COVID-19  in the past weeks.

Government data showed that 22 active cases in 12 of the 49 villages here had been recorded on Monday.

Affected villages include Cataggaman Viejo, Cataggaman Pardo, Cataggaman Nuevo, Ugac Norte, Ugac Sur, Gosi Norte, Carig Norte, Dadda, San Gabriel, Buntun, Carig Sur and Libag Sur. INQ
