A high school student from Alaska, USA, was arrested for threatening his peers and teachers with a gun in multiple virtual classrooms.
The student studies at Dimond High School and managed to enter different online sessions last week. The school district contacted authorities about the threats on Aug. 20, as per Anchorage Daily News last Saturday, Aug. 22.
Along with displaying his firearm, the boy also used profane language when he joined the Zoom classrooms. Anchorage School District (ASD) spokesman Alan Brown later assured that the boy was eventually removed from the online sessions.
Following the incident, school officers worked with the district’s information technology department to identify the suspect.
Once they found the student behind the threats, police located and arrested him. According to the report, charges were forwarded to the local Department of Juvenile Justice.
“These types of online disruptions during any ASD online class setting are completely unacceptable and essentially cheat students out of learning,” Brown said.
He also stated that the school district would “quickly investigate every instance of threatening behavior” and carry out disciplinary action in line with its policy if needed. Ryan Arcadio /ra
