2-month-old-baby in Quezon tests positive for COVID-19

LUCENA CITY –– A 2-month-old baby girl from Gumaca town is one of the latest coronavirus disease (COVID-19) cases in Quezon province, authorities reported Tuesday.

Mayor Webster Letargo disclosed on social media that aside from the infant (Confirmed case #28) from Barangay Buensuceso, another 68-year-old housewife (Confirmed case #29) from Barangay San Diego also contracted the dreaded respiratory disease.

Both their “positive test” results came out Tuesday. The young COVID-19 patient is symptomatic, while the older one is asymptomatic, said Letargo.

Gumaca has 16 active cases.

The Quezon Integrated Provincial Health Office in its 10 a.m. bulletin also reported that another confirmed COVID-19 patient from Calauag town died.

The death toll among COVID-19 cases in the province rose to 30.

As of Tuesday morning, Quezon reverted to general community quarantine until August 31, recorded a total of 909 COVID-19 cases, 400 of which are active. The province also logged a total of 479 recoveries.
