MANILA, Philippines — A magnitude 4.9 earthquake struck Davao Oriental on Monday morning, the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology said.
The quake hit 42 kilometers northeast of Banganga, Davao Oriental, at 8:42 a.m., Phivolcs said in its updated bulletin.
An Intensity III was felt in Davao Oriental towns Baganga, Manay, and Cateel. Meanwhile, an Intensity III was registered in Mati City, Davao Oriental; Lingig, Surigao del Sur; and Rosario, Agusan del Sur.
Bislig town in Surigao del Sur likewise felt an Instrumental Intensity III while an Instrumental Intensity I was recorded in Malungon, Sarangani; Gingoog City; and Misamis Oriental.
Phivolcs said the quake had a depth of 12 km and was tectonic in origin.
No damage nor aftershocks could be expected from it, the agency added.
