LEGAZPI CITY – A suspected drug pusher was killed while four other suspects were arrested in separate operations in Camarines Sur on Saturday.
Police Colonel Roderico Roy Jr., Camarines Sur police chief, said Glen Egliston Jr., 35, died while Allan Dimabayao, 34, was able to escape in a buy-bust operation in Barangay Banao, Iriga City at around 5:10 p.m.
Roy stated that when undercover police officers were about to arrest the duo, Egliston took his gun from his sling bag and opened fire, but missed.
This prompted the police officers to return fire that resulted in the suspect’s death.
Police recovered four bags of shabu (crystal meth), drug-using items, a .38 caliber gun, a fired cartridge, and three other cartridges.
In a separate buy-bust operation, Ricky Vasquez, 34, was also arrested in Barangay Hamoraon in Minalabac town at around 4:20 p.m. Confiscated from him were four sachets of shabu.
In Baao town, Raquel Gecosa, 44; Jerica Belbelone, 25 and Ginalyn Dela Cruz, 39, were arrested in a search operation in a bar in Barangay Sta. Cruz at around 11:05 p.m.
Authorities seized six sachets of shabu, a weighing scale, aluminum foil and other drug-using tools from the establishment owned by Gecosa.
All suspects were included in the illegal drugs watchlist.
