Quezon town mayor tests positive for COVID-19

LUCENA CITY – Mauban, Quezon Mayor Marita Llamas  announced on social media that she tested positive for the coronavirus disease 2019  (COVID-19).

Although the result was “saddening and surprising,” Llamas assured her constituents that she is in  “stable condition, asymptomatic and under home quarantine.”

She urged all those who had close contact with her to undergo self isolation to prevent the spread of the disease.

Llamas, wife of former town mayor Fernando, is the first local official in the province to publicly declare being infected by the novel coronavirus.

Mauban has logged a total of 91  COVID-19 cases since July 25,   with 54 recoveries as of Friday. Lucena City still has the most cases at 195.

Quezon province has 847 confirmed COVID-19 cases, 362 of which are active. The province also recorded a total of 460 recoveries and 25 fatalities.
