Bulacan tourism leader dies
CITY OF MALOLOS –– Bulacan is mourning the death of Bulacan Tourism Council chairman Allan Jorge Rodriguez Tengco, who died of heart failure at the age of 49 in his home in Baliwag town.
A Bulacan provincial board resolution on Thursday, Aug. 20, honors his ten-year stint as a tourism council leader.
Tengco is a grandson of Victoria “Lola Turing” Tengco, 94, owner of the Baliwag Transit bus line. He is the eldest child of Amy and Joselito, brother of former Baliwag Mayor Edilberto Tengco.
Bautista describes Tengco as a wealthy man “who is very down to earth who helps anyone who asks for his help.”
Tengco is credited for developing the annual Holy Week parade of life-sized statues and images of saints.
Rosario Bautista, former tourism officer, said Tengco had collected 500 images of saints, which he stores in an airconditioned structure at their family compound.
