MANILA, Philippines — Aside from a face mask, the use of a face shield is now mandatory for those entering commercial places like shopping malls to curtail the spread of the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19).
“Napagkasunduan din ng National Task Force on COVID-19 na bukod po sa doon sa pagsusuot ng face shield sa pampublikong transportation, sa trabaho, ay dapat sinusuot na rin ang face shields sa mga nakasaradong commercial establishments gaya ng mga malls,” Presidential spokesperson Roque said in an interview over state-run PTV.
(It was agreed in the National Task Force on COVID-18 that aside from wearing face shields in public transportation and at work, face shiels will have to be worn in closed commercial establishments like malls.)
The government earlier made the use of face shields in the workplace and in public transportation mandatory as Metro Manila eased into the less restrictive general community quarantine (GCQ).
Meanwhile, the mandatory wearing of face masks in public places was imposed as early as April.
As of Thursday, there are 178,022 confirmed cases of COVID-19 nationwide, including 114,114 recoveries and 2,883 deaths.
