8 QC areas of concern locked down

Eight areas of concern in Quezon City have been placed on lockdown while two of the three city-owned hospitals are at full capacity for new coronavirus disease (COVID-19) patients.

In a list sent to reporters, the city government identified the affected areas as 950 Interior on Aurora Boulevard in Mangga, Sitio Ambuklao in Baesa, a portion of Sitio Cabuyao 6A in Sauyo, 72 Fulgencio St. in Sitio Lambak at Barangay Krus na Ligas, 17 Isarog St. in Sta Teresita, 11 Valencia St. and Valencia Hills Condominium in Valencia, and 198 E. Rodriguez Sr. Blvd. in Doña Imelda. City officials also announced that as of Aug. 18, only Quezon City General Hospital was accepting COVID-19 patients. Novaliches District Hospital’s 34 beds and Rosario Maclang Bautista General Hospital’s 33 beds were all occupied.

The Hope 3 COVID-19 facility for nursing mothers and babies has two available rooms while Hope 1 has one available bed and Hope 2 with 218 available beds.

To arrest the spread of the virus, Mayor Joy Belmonte has required all employers to conduct regular health screening of their personnel and to also keep a record for easier contact tracing. She ordered businesses with more than 10 employees to assign a health officer with relevant training and to draft a detailed COVID-19 response plan, including a list of measures on how to comply with minimum health protocols.
