Notorious drug dealer nabbed by PDEA in Cagayan Valley
MANILA, Philippines – Authorities caught a notorious drug dealer who ranked sixth in the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) last week in Cagayan Valley, said a PDEA official Wednesday.
PDEA Director General Undersecretary Jose Gutierrez Jr. said the drug dealer, Angel Navarro, was a 53-year-old driver who was previously a member of the Integrated National Police.
He said that Navarro was nabbed by PDEA agents during a buy-bust operation along the Diversion Road in Tuguegarao City last June 2. Navarro was caught selling a sachet of methamphetamine hydrochloride or “shabu” for P3000 to an undercover policeman.
Gutierrez said that authorities were also able to confiscate two more sachets of the illegal drug, as well as a maroon Mitsubishi Adventure (XDY-193) and a mobile phone. A total of 2.95 grams of “shabu” was seized from Navarro, he stated.
Navarro was temporarily held under custody by the Region 2 PDEA. He faces charges for violating RA 9165, or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002, said Gutierrez.
