MANILA, Philippines — Metro Manila mayors have agreed to allow all food establishments to offer delivery services 24/7 amid the metropolis’ general community quarantine (GCQ) status.
“Karamihan po ng ating mga LGUs (local government units) sa Metro Manila naglabas na po sila ng mga EO (executive order) alllowing 24/7 restaurants na pwede ang delivery,” Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) General Manager Jojo Garcia said in a televised Palace press briefing Thursday.
Earlier, Manila Mayor Isko Moreno issued an EO allowing food establishments in the capital city to resume 24-hour takeout and delivery services.
Metro Manila, which remains the epicenter of the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) outbreak in the Philippines, eased back to to GCQ status Wednesday after a two-week modified enhanced community quarantine was enforced to give health workers a “timeout” and to prevent the collapse of the country’s healthcare system.
