Work at Gapan City Hall halted as employee gets COVID-19
GAPAN CITY, Nueva Ecija, Philippines — The Gapan City Hall was closed for disinfection after a department head tested positive for the new coronavirus disease (COVID-19), Mayor Emerson Pascual said on Wednesday.
Its employees were already swabbed for confirmatory tests, but Pascual said all government transactions in the city would be suspended from Aug. 19 to Aug. 23 pending the release of results.
He asked all employees to voluntarily isolate themselves from their family members to avert the possible spread of COVID-19.
The suspension would also cover the Bakuna (immunization) Day scheduled for Wednesday in barangay health centers.
As of Tuesday, Gapan had five active COVID-19 cases, prompting the local government to intensify the monitoring on its health protocols.
