MANILA, Philippines — The combined effects of the low-pressure area (LPA) east of the country and the southwest monsoon would bring rains to the eastern and western portions of Luzon and Visayas, state meteorologists said Wednesday.
Weather forecast from the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical, and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) showed that Eastern Visayas, parts of Bicol Region, and even Cagayan Valley would be affected by the LPA, which was last seen 255 east northeast of Borongan in Eastern Samar.
While the LPA is not expected to develop into a tropical depression in the next 24 hours, it is seen to bring rain shower due to its proximity to the landmass.
Meanwhile, the other side of the country, from Central Luzon, Metro Manila, Southern Luzon, remaining parts of Visayas up to the Zamboanga peninsula would see formation of cloud bands brought by the southwest monsoon or habagat.
Because of that, Pagasa is expecting rains to persist in these areas until Friday, while the weather may improve in the coming weekend.
“Sa natitirang bahagi naman ng Luzon, makakaranas ng bahagyang maulap hanggang sa maulap na kalangitan maliban na lamang sa ilang isolated rain showers or thunderstorms lalo na sa dakong hapon or gabi,” senior weather specialist Chris Perez said.
(The remaining parts of Luzon may see partly cloudy to cloudy skies except for some isolated rain showers and thunderstorms especially by the afternoon and nighttime.)
Due to the rains, temperatures may see a dip anew including in Metro Manila, which may range from 26 to 31 degrees Celsius, and 25 to 32 degrees in Legazpi and Puerto Princesa.
Temperatures may also peak at just 32 degrees Celsius in Visayan cities of Iloilo, Cebu, and Tacloban, while weather in parts of Mindanao would be slightly better, as Davao would see around 25 to 34 degrees, and 23 to 32 degrees in Cagayan de Oro.
No gale warning has been raised as of now but sea condition may become moderate in most parts of the country, while bodies of water within Visayas and near the Zamboanga peninsula would be slight to moderate.
