TAGBILARAN CITY –– A 2-year-old boy in Buenavista town in Bohol province tested positive for the coronavirus disease (COVID-19) on Tuesday.
Bohol Gov. Arthur Yap, in a post on Facebook, said the child was brought to the Governor Celestino Gallares Memorial Hospital in Tagbilaran City on Monday night, August 17, after experiencing a fever.
The boy’s family lives in Sitio Nangka, Barangay Putingbato, Buenavista.
Buenavista Mayor Dave Duallo said Sitio Nangka was placed under lockdown while the municipal health office was conducting contact tracing.
The child, the second COVID-19 case in Buenavista town, is the youngest COVID-19 patient in Bohol.
On Tuesday, August 18, seven new cases were registered in Bohol: four residents of Malingin Island, Bien Unido, one overseas Filipino worker from Tagbilaran City, one locally stranded individual from Danao town, and the 2-year-old boy from Buenavista.
Bohol has 131 cases of COVID-19, with 26 active, 99 recoveries, and six deaths.
