MANILA, Philippines — An off-duty nurse who just passing by helped a homeless woman deliver a baby on a sidewalk in Barangay Bangkal in Makati City.
The nurse assisted the first responders as the woman who was lying on a carton box along the busy Osmeña Highway gave birth as shown in the photos and a video shared on Facebook Tuesday by the Bangkal Fire Emergency Rescue Disaster Support (FERDS) Makati.
“Rescuers we’re assisted by a nurse who just happened to pass by the area. Thank you po sa inyo,” the emergency response team said.
The nurse, who was wearing a face mask and a face shield, sat in front of the mother while the latter delivered her baby.
A video shows how the nurse cut the umbilical cord and later on cleaned the baby with a white cloth provided by the first responders.
“Salute and Respect to all Medical Frontliners. Pinagbubutihan po at pinag-iigihan po nla ang kanilang trabaho,” the Bangkal FERDS Makati added.
