Cataingan town to send LSIs to villages after quake damages quarantine building

LEGAZPI CITY –– At least 101 locally stranded individuals (LSI) in Cataingan town in Masbate will be sent to their respective villages after a 6.6 magnitude earthquake hit the province on Tuesday morning.

Venus Rojo, chief of the Municipal Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office, said the municipal astrodome where the LSIs were staying had cracks on concrete walls and was considered unsafe as a quarantine facility.

“We need to endorse them to their respective villages because it is not safe here. We are also experiencing several aftershocks,” Rojo said.

The LSIs would be accompanied to their respective villages where they would continue their 14-day quarantine.

“We were told to look for schools to relocate them, but the process would take time. We need to decide now for their safety,” Rojo added.
