MANILA, Philippines — A total 386 Filipinos from Lebanon arrived in Manila on Monday in the first repatriation flight since the capital Beirut was hit by powerful explosions on Aug. 4.
The chartered Qatar Airways flight also brought home the remains of four overseas Filipino workers who were killed in the blasts and four others.
The repatriates also included 43 Filipinos who have been sheltered at the Philippine Embassy in Beirut for months and 20 others who were injured in the explosions.
The Department of Foreign Affairs said the Philippine Embassy would arrange another special flight for other Filipinos who want to come home. Around 33,000 Filipinos remain in Lebanon.
