According to the Philippine National Police, index crimes committed went down by 15.52 percent from January to November 2019 compared to the same period in 2018.
On the other hand, nonindex crimes or crimes in violation of special laws registered a 0.21-percent decrease with 175,058 cases recorded in 2019 in contrast to 175,432 cases in 2018.
Index crimes are considered serious in nature and occurring with sufficient frequency and regularity that they are considered index to the crime situation in a given area (i.e. murder, homicide, physical injury, rape, robbery, theft and car theft).
