Eastern Visayas has 16 new COVID-19 patients
TACLOBAN CITY –– At least 16 fresh cases of the coronavirus disease (COVID-19) were registered in Eastern Visayas, bringing the total number of infections in the region to 1,585.
Most of the new cases involved locally stranded individuals (LSIs), the Department of Health (DOH) said.
Dr. Gloria Fabrigas, health officer of Tacloban City, said one of their patients is a 22-year-old woman who had an ectopic pregnancy and was admitted to a hospital.
Tacloban City now has 89 COVID-19 cases where 25 were active.
Fabrigas said Tacloban City Mayor Alfred Romualdez ordered the strict implementation of the city’s checkpoints and curfew to monitor the movement of people.
“COVID-19 is here with us already. But we are doing everything to mitigate its further spread like doing contact tracing. We appeal to our people to do their part,” she said.
