Magis Eagles dump USC in NBTC hoops
THE reigning champions Sacred Heart School-Ateneo de Cebu Magis Eagles made mincemeat out of the defense of the University of San Carlos-South which they demolished, 82-43 yesterday in the Cebu leg of the Seaoil National Basketball Training Center Elite League at the City Sports Club Cebu gym.
The victory was never in doubt for the Eagles which established a 44-21 lead at halftime and padded it to, 63-29 at the end of the third period. The victory was the Eagles’ third in a row and it set up a pivotal showdown with their nemesis, the Cebu Eastern College Dragons today at 2:30 for the top seed in bracket B.
Big man Julius Cadavis led the way with 16 points, half of these he scored in the fourth canto. Three others reached twin digits with Janjan Jaboneta notching 11 and Mavii Suarez and Rendell Senining each getting 10. Ian Ortega was the lone ranger for the Baby Warriors with 12.
CEC also earned their third straight win with an, 87-30 bashing of PAREF Springdale.
In bracket A, the University of Southern Philippines Foundation claimed the second seed after beating the Philippine Christian Gospel School, 75-39 for a 3-1 record, a half-game behind the undefeated University of the Visayas Baby Lancers who are at 4-0.
