QC lowers fines for face mask violators

/ 05:14 AM August 16, 2020

MANILA, Philippines — The Quezon City local government has lowered the fine on violators apprehended for not wearing face masks in public places.

From P1,000 to P5,000, the new fines will now be P300 to P1,000 based on the level of offense.

According to Ordinance No. SP-2957, the reduction was based on the present economic situation which makes it harder for violators to pay the corresponding penalty.

The ordinance also requires the issuance of an Ordinance Violation Receipt (OVR) to violators so they will no longer be brought to the Philippine National Police headquarters or to Amoranto Stadium for documentation.

Violators should pay the fine before the OVR lapses in five days, otherwise, a case will be filed before the City Prosecutors Office.
