New Olongapo City patients may have contracted COVID-19 in workplace

ZAMBALES, Philippines  – New Olongapo City coronavirus disease (COVID-19) patients may have been infected in the workplace, according to the latest health report there.

Olongapo Mayor Rolen Paulino Jr. said the city recorded 14 new COVID-19 patients on Friday (Aug. 14), bringing the number of active cases there to 50.

A private hospital and a company inside the Subic Bay Freeport have been linked to a number of the city’s new cases. Being treated are four health workers (aged 23 to 35), six company workers of a local firm (aged 28 to 45), and three other patients.

Olongapo City has treated 78 COVID-19 patients since the start of the pandemic, 25 of whom have recovered from the disease. The city has recorded three deaths because of COVID-19.
