Rebel dead, 2 soldiers wounded in Guihulngan clashes
DUMAGUETE CITY—A rebel was killed and two soldiers were wounded in two clashes in two areas of Guihulngan City, Negros Oriental province on Friday (Aug. 14).
Authorities have yet to identify the slain rebel.
The two wounded soldiers were airlifted to Bacolod City for treatment, said Col. Inocencio Pasaporte, commanding officer of the 303rd Infantry Brigade.
The two clashes took place past noon on Friday in two communities of the village of Sandayao in Guihulngan.
Sandayao village is located in a mountainous area 25 kilometers from Guihulngan City proper. It is near the border of Negros Oriental and Occidental.
As of late Friday night, soldiers are still in pursuit of the rebels.
