BACOLOD CITY –– Five more employees of the Negros Occidental provincial government tested positive for the coronavirus disease (COVID-19) on Thursday.

Three of them worked at the Bids and Awards Committee, one at the Provincial Veterinary Office, and another at the Provincial Health Office, said Provincial Administrator Rayfrando Diaz.

As of August 13, at least 19 employees of the provincial government have contracted the virus.

The provincial capitol and its adjacent offices in Bacolod were closed for disinfection since last Wednesday after its employees tested positive for COVID-19.

The capitol will reopen on Monday.

The Department of Health (DOH) registered 15 new COVID-19 cases in the city and six in the province on Thursday.

Of the 15 in Bacolod, 12 are domestic cases, including a 3-year-old boy, and three locally stranded individuals.

The new patients are from Victorias City, Binalbagan town, and Talisay and Silay cities.
