Clark-based Japanese firm posts 2nd COVID-19 case

CITY OF SAN FERNANDO –– The Yokohama Tire Philippines Inc. (YTPI) in Clark Freeport recorded its second case of the coronavirus disease (COVID-19), this time a worker who was infected by a relative.

The Japanese tire maker also announced on social media that 20 of its employees underwent swab tests and isolation on Wednesday.

At least 12 were close contacts of the new case, five were members of the YTPI medical team, while three others were exposed to family members who contracted the virus.

YTPI said it disinfected its workplaces in compliance with protocols imposed by the state-owned Clark Development Corp. It was among the first companies in Clark that resumed operations when the national government eased the lockdown in late May.

Its first COVID-19 case happened in July, seeing all of its 110 employees and 52 contractuals taking swab tests and quarantine. They all tested negative for the virus. INQ
