MANILA, Philippines — Tropical Depression Gener, which entered the Philippine area of responsibility (PAR) early Thursday morning, is expected to weaken to a low-pressure area within one to two days, according to state meteorologists.

In its 11 a.m. weather bulletin, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical, and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) said that “Gener” was forecast to move west-southwest near the northern PAR boundary and will remain far from the country’s landmass.

The tropical depression, Pagasa added, is “unlikely to bring high impact weather over any part of the country.”

Gener was last spotted at 870 kilometers east northeast of Basco, Batanes.

It also packed maximum sustained winds of 45 kilometers per hour (kph) near the center and gustiness of up to 55 kph.

The weather disturbance was also spotted moving west-southwest at 20 kph.
