111 more cops get virus; Metro cop dies of COVID-19

MANILA, Philippines — More than 100 new cases of coronavirus disease were recorded in the Philippine National Police, bringing the total count of cases in the police force to 2,732.

In a Facebook post on Wednesday, PNP documented a total of 111 additional cases which is a record-high daily increase in the police organization.

Of the 111, most of the cases were reported from Metro Manila police with 43, Mimaropa police with 40 and 12 from Calabarzon.

A 46-year-old police non-commissioned officer from the National Capital Region Police Office is the latest fatality in PNP. This raises the total count of deaths to 13.

The total tally of recoveries reached 1,800 with 43 additional policemen who survived the respiratory disease.

PNP is also looking into 2,202 suspects and 764 probable cases of COVID-19.[ac]
