Kin claim body of ‘amazon’ slain in clash with soldiers in Ilocos Sur

CANDON CITY—The body of Pamela Peralta, 27, was claimed by her mother and grandmother at a funeral parlor here on Tuesday afternoon.

Peralta, alias “Ka Maymay,” was one of the five members of the communist rebel group Kilusang Larangan Guerilya-Southern Ilocos Sur, who were killed during the weekend encounter with government troops in Santa Lucia, Ilocos Sur.

The slain “amazon” was reportedly a medical officer of the rebel group.
Also killed during the clash were an Army soldier and a civilian.

“Seven Filipinos died as an ill effect of the evils of communism,” Army Maj. Rogelio Dumbrigue,” incoming Civil-Military Operation officer of the Army’s 702nd Infantry Brigade, told the Inquirer.

He said Peralta had told her parents that she was employed as a field officer of the Department of Social Welfare and Development.

Earlier, the bodies of rebels Rolando Marvil, alias “Eugene,” and Edgar Justo were already claimed and brought to Barangay Bugnay here.
