Health worker’s mom contracts COVID-19 in Olongapo City

SAN ANTONIO, Zambales –– The number of coronavirus disease (COVID-19) cases in Olongapo City climbed to 62 after a health care worker infected her 61-year-old mother on Tuesday.

Mayor Rolen Paulino Jr. said the patient is from Barangay West Bajac Bajac.

“The patient has a history of fever associated with productive cough and shortness of breathing. She had a prior consultation with a private doctor and was given oral antibiotic and cough suppressant and was sent home,” Paulino said in a statement.

The patient was admitted to a hospital and swabbed on Aug. 9 after her symptoms progressed.

As of Tuesday, the city has 32 active COVID-19 cases, Paulino said.
