COVID-19 claims 20th life in Quezon province

LUCENA CITY –– The coronavirus disease (COVID-19) related deaths in Quezon province rose to 20 after another patient died in San Antonio town on Tuesday.

The local government of San Antonio reported on social media that the patient, an 18-year-old female from Barangay Del Valle, died in a hospital outside of the town.

The authorities gave no added details on the fatality.

The COVID-19 cases in Quezon, which is still under the modified general community quarantine (MGCQ), continued to rise with 24 new patients, bringing the total number of carriers to 568, according to the data from the Integrated Provincial Health Office.

At least 248 of them have recovered.

The tally of recorded COVID-19 patients shows a sudden spike since July with a total of 187 cases compared to March 16 to June 30 with only 160.

From August 1 to the present, health authorities recorded an additional 192 cases.

Of the 41 municipalities in the province, only eight remain COVID-19-free.
