Teacher, brother shot dead in Nueva Ecija

SAN LEONARDO, Nueva Ecija — Unidentified assailants on a motorcycle shot dead a public school teacher and his brother here on Monday morning, police said.

Investigators identified the slain teacher as Cornelio Hementela, 58, and his elder brother Leonilo, 60, both residents of Barangay Magpapalayok here.

The victims were on board a tricycle driven by Leonilo when the suspects, who tailed them, attacked, police said.

Both victims died on the spot while the gunmen fled towards Barangay Adorable.

Forensic investigators recovered from the crime scene two spent shells from a .45-caliber pistol, mobile phones, and other personal belongings.

Police have yet to identify the motive behind the attack.
