MANILA, Philippines — Several areas in Luzon including the Ilocos Region would still experience rain showers even as former Tropical Storm Ferdie has left the Philippine area of responsibility.

According to Monday afternoon’s forecast, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) said Ferdie, now known as Tropical Storm Mekkhala, continues to intensify the effects of the southwest monsoon or Habagat.

“Asahan pa rin ang monsoon rains sa mga lugar na ‘yan at ating pinapayuhan ang mga kababayan na mag-ingat pa rin po sa panganib ng flash floods at landslides,” Pagasa weather specialist Joey Figuracion said.

Meanwhile, the other tropical depression west of Luzon is not expected to enter the Philippine area of responsibility as it continues to move away from the country.

Weather in various parts of Luzon would start to warm up, except for Laoag and Baguio which would experience temperatures ranging from 24 to 29 degrees Celsius and 16 to 19 degrees, respectively.  In Metro Manila, the temperature may play around 26 to 31 degrees Celsius, and in Puerto Princesa, 25 to 32 degrees.

It would be warmer down south, as Cebu and Iloilo would register temperatures around 26 to 32 degrees Celsius, while in Davao, it would be within 25 to 34 degrees.

A gale warning is still raised over some of Luzon’s seaboards, from Bataan and Isabela, towards the west of the Ilocos Region, up north to Cagayan and Batanes, and then down east to Isabela.
