SAN ANTONIO, Zambales –– Fifteen new cases of the coronavirus disease (COVID-19) were recorded in Olongapo City on Sunday, surpassing the previous single-day high record of seven cases two days earlier.
Olongapo City Mayor Rolen Paulino Jr. said the surge in COVID-19 cases was a result of polymerase chain reaction (PRC) tests conducted on close contacts of the previous patients.
The latest cases caught the virus either at their homes or workplaces.
Among them is the 10-day-old daughter of a patient who tested positive for the virus after giving birth. Another case is a 2-month old niece of another infected patient.
The new cases raised to 60 the confirmed COVID-19 cases in the city, 35 of which are active. Twenty-two of the cases have recovered from the disease while three have died.
