MANILA, Philippines — Senators on Saturday mourned the death of former Manila mayor and senator Alfredo Lim, who passed away at the age of 90.
Senator Lito Lapid honored the public service of his friend, who served as mayor of the capital city twice before getting elected to the Senate in 2004.
Nakikiramay ako sa kanyang mga naiwang mahal sa buhay,” Lapid said in a statement.
(I am mourning on the passing of my friend and fellow public servant Lim. I also mourn for his loved ones who were left behind.)
(I will always bring with me the memories we had together during the 13th Congress of Senate. We were good friends but even as we were both senators, I call edhim Mayor because of his love for the people.)
Senator Sonny Angara also thanked Lim’s kindness to his own district in Aurora.
