Ex-Lapu employee indicted by Ombud
A FORMER employee of the Lapu-lapu City Engineering Office was found guilty of serious dishonesty and was ordered dismissed from service by the Visayas Ombudsman.
Alipio Augusto Jr. is also perpertually disqualified from holding public office.
However, since he is no longer in government service, the anti-graft office’s order is deemed implement and accordingly reflected in his record of publid service.
The case against Augusto stemmed from the complaint filed by one Evan Chiu Tan.
Tan accused Augusto is introducing himself as an engineer three years ago and offered offered his services to come up with the building plan for Tan’s lodging house.
Augusto initially demanded P1,400 but Tan paid Augusto a total of P11,729 that includes fees for the processing the building plan.
Article continues after this advertisementHe signed acknowledgment receipts for the money he received from Tan. After the payment was made, Augusto disappered.

Tan found out that the Augusto was not an engineer. Tan requested Augusto to return the money but he did not heed prompting Tan to file a case against Augusto./ADOR VINCENT S. MAYOL
