Davao-based Dennis Uy’s sea transport firms offer stranded Cebuanos free rides home
MANILA, Philippines—Two sea transport firms, Trans-Asia and Starlite Ferries, announced a partnership with the Cebu City government to provide free rides to stranded Cebu residents, a statement on Friday (Aug. 7) said.
The companies, subsidiaries of Chelsea Logistics Infrastructure Holdings Corp. of Davao-based businessman Dennis A. Uy, said the partnership will run until Aug. 30 this year.
Cebuanos stranded outside of Cebu City can return home via the following routes:
- Cagayan de Oro-Cebu City
- Ozamiz-Cebu City
- Iligan-Cebu City
- Iloilo-Cebu City
- Surigao-Cebu City
Passengers will be considered as locally stranded individuals and must provide documents such as a valid ID with a Cebu address, medical certificate and travel authority.
Online bookings are temporarily unavailable but passengers can get their tickets from Trans-Asia and Starlite tickets at the companies’ offices in Cebu, Cagayan de Oro, Iligan, Iloilo, Ozamiz and Surigao.
“We thank the Cebu City government for this partnership. It’s indeed a privileged to be of service to the community where we operate,” said Chryss Alfonsus V. Damuy, Chelsea Logistics president and CEO, in a statement.
“We look forward to joining hands with other institutions who have a big heart to address the need of LSIs and OFWs to travel and be reunited with their families,” he added.
