IATF allows limited movement of SAP beneficiaries to avail subsidy

MANILA, Philippines — Limited movement of beneficiaries of the social amelioration program (SAP) have been allowed to enable the unimpeded distribution of cash subsidies despite the modified enhanced community quarantine (MECQ) placed over several areas.

Metro Manila, Bulacan, Rizal, Laguna and Cavite are under MECQ until August 18.

“Beneficiaries of the Social Amelioration Program not otherwise restricted shall be allowed the limited movement to avail of and receive such benefits,” read the Inter-Agency Task Force (IATF) for the Management of Emerging Diseases’ Resolution No 61 dated August 6 and released Friday.

The second tranche of the Department of Social Welfare and Development’s (DSWD) SAP is still ongoing with over 10 million families receiving aid so far.

The IATF also allowed the full operations of DSWD’s partner financial service providers to “ensure uninterrupted distribution of social amelioration to the most vulnerable” in areas under MECQ.

In an earlier statement, DSWD said its financial service providers for the second tranche of SAP are GCash, RCBC, Robinsons Bank, PayMaya, Starpay, and Unionbank.

The DSWD shifted to digital disbursement of cash aid to eliminate crowding and mass gatherings during distribution.
