Ex-cop arrested for shoplifting
A former policeman and his companion were arrested for shoplifting in a downtown mall in Cebu City last Thursday noon.
Jobie Libradilla Antipolo, 30, of barangay Pansil, Barili town, and Roy Abanilla Pansica, 29, of barangay Tabok, Mandaue City, were arrested near the entrance of the Gaisano-Metro Colon with unpaid items.
Police said Marlon Dennis Cabarrubias, house detective of the mall located in Colon Street, held the two men after several unpaid items were found in their bag.
Found in the bag were a doorknob worth P1,199, six handy locks worth P1,698 each, and other locks amounting to P36,076.
SPO2 Darryl Alalim of the Waterfront police said a loaded .45 pistol was recovered from Antipolo, who failed to present documents of the firearm.
Theft charges will be filed against the two men. A separate charge for illegal possession of firearm will be filed against Antipolo, who refused to comment on the arrest. Antipolo had a rank of police officer 1 when he was assigned at the Cebu Provincial Police Office. He was transferred to the Bohol Provincial Police Office where he went absent without official leave. CORRESPONDENT CHITO O. ARAGON
